Steeve Charland
Steeve « L’Artiss » Charland is an organizer for the "freedom convoy".
He is a spokesman for a group known as "Les Farfadaas", a group which led a protest near the intersection of Laurier and Laval streets in Gatineau, at the Zibi construction site. [1]
Before, he was a leader of La Meute, a far-right anti-immigration group in Quebec with links to Hell's Angels.[2]
He was a host of an anti-lockdown party in December 2020. [3]
He was charged for mischief when the group allegedly conspired to close the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fonatine Bridge-Tunnel in Montreal's east end, where several people taking part in an anti-mask protest stopped vehicles at an entrance to cause a traffic jam. His trial for those charges is scheduled for Janurary 2023. [4]
On March 1, he had his first appearance in court, to determine whether he will represent himself or to have a lawyer present.[5]
He is scheduled for a bail hearing on March 8, after a series of confusing court appearances due to a language barrier. [6]
