Terry Fox was a basket ball player for high school, before losing his leg to cancer. Despite the loss of the leg, he attempted a coast-to-coast run across Canada, aborting the run outside Thunder Bay due to cancer spreading to his lungs.

In a rather tone-deaf display at the blockade, protestors placed an upside down flag and a mandate freedom sign on him, with the presumption he would be against the vaccinations.
