Doug Ford is the Conservative MP of Ontario.

On February 11, he declared a state of emergency over the blockades in Windsor and Ottawa. While the Windsor blockade was cleared on February 13, the Ottawa blockade was only cleared when Justin Trueau declared the state of emergency to clear the remaining blockades. [1]

Although he provided penalties for truckers by suspending their licenses for a week, was was criticized for not following through on penalties where the claimed penalties of $100,000 were just for show rather than to inflict a punishment. [2]

Removal of restrictions

After the protests, he claimed that the restrictions will be removed. [3] However, he was in rigid opposition to the school boards wanting to extend a mask mandate, despite claiming his government would have a flexible response to covid.[4][5]
